A family's fight against anti-trans bills in Texas

For the Briggle family, Texas is home. But mounting waves of anti-trans legislation has left families like theirs vulnerable to unprecedented peril.

Lawmakers have introduced the most extreme slate of anti-trans bills to ever come before the state legislature, including bills that would ban gender-affirming health care for trans youth; censor discussions and libraries in public schools; and punish district attorneys who refuse to prosecute parents for child abuse for providing gender-affirming care to their children.

To parents like Amber and Adam, the cumulative effect of this flood of bills can be distilled to one explicit truth: “It is life or death for these kids,” the mom of two said.
